LUNGOS delivers a collaborative platform for Civil Society in Seychelles. Its mandate is derived from the following: Mission
LUNGOS was created out of a need for a coordinating service for the Third Sector. Its mission is “To support the growth and development of Civil Society in Seychelles leading to organisations which are dynamic, organised, effective, resourceful and operating at high standards of excellence, thus achieving sought after sustainable and unifying results for individuals, communities and the nation.”
Representation
Currently, over 60 of the active Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in Seychelles are affiliated to LUNGOS. They are clustered into eight different Thematic Commissions according to areas of intervention and focus.
MoU with Government
The State recognised and confirmed the vital role of civil society organisations (CSOs) through the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding with LUNGOS in June 2008.
Vision
“Citizens are fully engaged in the development of Seychelles.”
The mission of LUNGOS unfolds, into relevant working themes, which include: providing common ground for Civil Society participation in development, enabling overall growth and development of the Civil Society sector, capacity development, Inter-organisational /sector networking and liaison, partnership facilitation, policy engagement and the delivery of some essential services to the sector. Those themes are further deployed into Key Strategic Areas:
